The Lyrics of “Matilda” by Alt-J According To My Ears

I love Alt-J very much, but when singing along to their songs I find myself coming up with gibberish words and unexplainable sentences because the singer kinda ties all the words together and says them really quickly, AND because I’ve never bothered to google the actual lyrics. Yesterday, I dedicated some time to writing down those gibberish words and unexplainable sentences, because why not? I chose Matilda because it’s one of my favorites. So I present to you the lyrics of “Matilda” by Alt-J according to my ears:

This is from, this is from
This is from Matilda

Just like Johnny Glenn said the breath I’ve taken and the one I must to go on
Bird to panayn peen in your hand, so you understand who’s boss
I defeat sleep’s talk to tell with her success
Oh this is from, this is from
This is from Matilda

And she needs you, this is from Matilda
And she needs you, this is from Matilda

Just like Johnny Glenn said the breath I’ve taken and the one I must to go on
Bird to panayn peen in your hand, so you understand who’s boss
I defeat sleep’s talk to tell with her success
Oh this is from, this is from
This is from Matilda

And she needs you, this is from Matilda
And she needs you, this is from Matilda
And she needs you, this is from Matilda
A lab is wonder twice so lovely down my timber

And she needs you, this is from Matilda (x4)

This is from Matilda
This is from Matilda
Matilda, Matilda, Matilda

If you do not know Alt-J, I highly recommend you give their songs a listen. They’re quite unique.

    • They are! But they’re so soothing, you know? Like, I have no clue what they’re saying most of the time (I don’t know why I’ve never googled the lyrics) but just hearing the music, and hearing those gibberish words sung by this dude (whatever his name is) is relaxing. Like floating-in-a-peaceful-ocean-after-a-hard-day relaxing. Also, you should hear me singing along to “Fitzpleasure”. I think I only really know a couple of the words in that song.
